Mesko, "Resampled" thumbnails

Resampled will be an exhibit of art that re-imagines the low-resolution worlds of Nintendo's classic video games. It will include fan-made art of the old games as well as official art of newer games that re-imagine the old characters (like art from the new Legend of Zelda game).

The word "resampled" comes from the process that programs like Photoshop use to increase the resolution of a bitmapped image file. It alludes to the idea of taking something with minimal visual information and re-inventing it with greater detail and tangibility.

I personally like the last one best.

  1. Ok, based upon our conversation in class, I have to agree with you that the last one is definitely the strongest of the roughs. I love the fact you chose one of the most iconic images for nintendo without using an actual character. The fact that you re-imagined it in a 3d form like the artists you will feature would have make it very successful. I am looking forward to seeing this comped out.

  2. I like the last one a lot, but I'm also very drawn to the first one... It's a nice concept.

  3. The last one is absolutely the first one to catch my attention. It is a little hard to read the whole word, but I'm sure that's just due to the thumbnail. With the scale so large it should be fine. Are you going to have any subtitle if you use the last thumb? I wouldn't immediately know that you mean re-imagined artwork.

    1. Yes, I'd have a subtitle similar to the subtitle in the first 2 thumbs.

  4. I really the first and the sixth playing off the nintendo logo, some sort of variation on that I think would be strong and cool on a big poster. It might help the first one if it had depth like the sixth. The last one could be cool too though.

  5. The first one will catch the eye more I think because the Nintendo logo is so popular. I would go with that one. You could even divide it differently. Diagonally, vertically, horizontally etc. Not to get too crazy, but you could try to incorporate the bricks (like the last) into the first one somehow. Maybe even Mario as well. Food for thought

  6. I personally like the first and last ones; both are great concepts. Though I am not sure if you should change the font size of the letters; I think having all the letters in the same size would be more appealing for the audience to read.
