Schroeder Title Ideas
My concept is concept art from graphic novels/comics being turned into film.
Last class the title, "Making it Reel," a play on the word "real," was mentioned..
I've decided on "Road to Reel: The Graphic Novel's Journey to Film," so far..
I tried some film style and comic book style fonts for my theme.
Ok, really like the idea of the circular format you started with. What if you used an image of a reel and arch the main title across the top and the subtitle arched along the bottom. Could be interesting!
I think it's pretty great how you communicated your theme relying on nothing but letterforms. I'm only worried about the fact that Rose wants us to letter the title, not use type... I think. If you can use type, having the movie theater type along with the handwritten-looking comic type like you tried really do pull off the job well. I think the font at the bottom works best to evoke a movie theater.
Handwriting the type could be really interesting, even if you do base it off a computer-based typeface. The slight imperfections that come from hand drawing it would be cool.
I agree with what Stephen said. You could also try creating a handwritten version of something like the letters used on the outside of movie theaters to display what movies are playing.
