Sigler, Title Ideas: Superflat

My exhibit is about a style of Japanese pop art that is very simplistic and has some influence from Japanese comics, sometimes called "superflat."  This title was so striking to me and representative of the style that I decided to use it as the exhibit's name.

  1. I would say you should mimic the artistic style reflected in the work you intend to showcase. I would try to emulate it as closely as possible. This is a subject matter where I think you have to honor the subject which will limit your artistic creativity/license.

  2. I really like the idea of the title being a bright speech bubble like in the bottom right sketches. Maybe having the words "super" and "flat" in different colors.

  3. I agree that it should definitely mimic the artistic styles of japanese pop art. Something with bold colors that will really stand out and be different.

  4. I think one of the bottom two thumbnails would work really well in bright, vibrant colors in a pop art style or something similar to the work being displayed in the exhibit.

  5. I really like your topic, it's some beautiful work, and the title works just fine. I would definitely take some influence from the shapes used in the work and maybe even think about how much patterning they use.

  6. I like the title. Maybe think about using a popular shape in Japanese pop art like the rolling clouds I have seen to incorporate the artwork into your typeface.
