The audience I am planning on reaching is an older demographic who are interested in the cyanotype process and photography in general. I want to educate the viewer on the cyanotype process, the 1920's photo fad Horse-manning and the roll photography taking in dealing with death. The book will contain 15 prints, an artist statement, history on horse- manning and an index giving the viewer information about the prints. I want it to be just as informative as it is interesting to look at and interact with.
This book will be different from others because it will contain actual prints, that can be removed and framed or keep inside the book. It's something that can't be massed produced, but is more of a artist book.
Here is an example of a book I found that is a great example of the format i would like the book to be in. In my book the photographs would be photo-cornred in rather than sitting on the page, and would have white pages with title, medium, artist.
As for the title of the book, I think it should talk about how photography deals with death. I was thinking the title page would be a headless photo paired with the title, with the brush marks of the emulsion showing. Here are some ideas for Titles
That is dead
evidentially there
"this will be and this has been"
"confusion of reality"
