Ciceri Brief and Board

My idea now is a tad different from the one I presented earlier, I've decided to do important animated movies (not just important 3D animated movies) that created major new techniques in animation.

Creative Brief

Content:

Character Concept Art from animated movies that developed major processes and techniques for the industry:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937): The first full-length film in three-strip Technicolor
The Lady and the Tramp (1955): First animated feature made in wide-screen format
One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961): Feature film using xerography
process, which replaced hand inking.
Toy Story (1995): First computer-animated film
Coraline (2009): First stop-motion character animated using rapid prototyping (3D printing)

While this exhibit will attract kids due to it’s subject matter, I plan for my audience to be an older demographic since the majority of the movies are from older times. I want this to be shown in the Museum of Modern Art and the Experience Music Project Museum because of its relation to film making it a less traditional form of art. I want the viewers to learn that despite the visual differences of the end product of animated movies, the beginnings have always been quite similar to each other.

Imagery: The images will be of the original sketches and other concept art from the movies. Check out the pictures!

For the typography I feel that it would be best to hand letter the title and make it look like it is also part of the concept art.

My color pallet will be the colors found on the paper the concept art was drawn on. I chose these colors because it will match the paper best and not draw the reader’s attention away from the work in the catalog.

Titles:

Conceptualized
Conception Perception
Brought to Life
Animated Beginnings
Rough Origins
Character Conception
Sketched
Sketchy Creations

If y’all have any ideas for a title, let me know!

UPDATE:

Different idea now, keeping the old one up just in case.

New Title: Unbuttoned

Creative Brief:

Behind the scenes of Coraline, the first stop-motion picture to utilize rapid prototyping (3D printing).

This exhibit will be geared towards both kids who enjoyed the movie and adults who are interested in animation and 3D printing. I would want this shown in MoMA and the EMP museum as well due to it's modern style. I want the viewers to learn about how Coraline was made, from conception to finish, and also about the importance of them using 3D printing.

The imagery I will use will consist of the concept art of the characters, a few storyboards and set designs, and pictures of the characters with/without their faces.

My color palette will use some of the main colors from the movie's own color palette to match it.

The typography will either be hand rendered to look like the title or I'll use a computer and have one similar to it. I am also considering styling it to just look creepy instead of matching the movie's title, because the movie is creepy and the behind the scenes things can be creepy too.
